We work at the intersection of neuroscience, cognitive, and behavioural psychology, sharing expertise and enthusiasm with over 800 students. We're international, cosmopolitan, and friendly.
We offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as short courses for professionals.
Undergraduate: BSc single and combined honours courses in psychology and applied psychology are available, both of which have been recognised by the British Psychological Society as providing Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).
Postgraduate: We have a strong postgraduate community with around 35 PhD students and 20 MSc students. We welcome applications from the UK, EU and overseas.
Our placements scheme is distinctive among UK psychology courses: a significant proportion of our students spend their third year working alongside professional psychologists in the NHS, prisons service and elsewhere.
BSc Psychology and Psychology Major students at Plymouth University each get over £900 worth of digital books in a project believed to be the first of its kind in UK higher education.
Research and research training has a high priority in the school. The school has established expertise in several fields, with research organised around the recently recognised University Research Centre in Brain, Cognition and Behaviour. The school attracts substantial external research funding from UK research councils, charitable organisations, government and industry and European Framework funding initiatives.
